The US has progressed a lot in the last couple of decades.> I agree there were some surprising numbers in locations you mentioned. Bloomberg has done well in NYC IMO. Also nationwide a high incarceration rate. I guess in some ways that is okay. If a gun is used in the commission of a violent crime that is a good reason for longer sentencing.
