12:28 ET Broadcom (BRCM) 47.12 +5.16 (+12.3%): Company presents at the Merrill Lynch Hardware Technology Conference; according to Merrill, Broadcom expects inventory correction to be completed by Q3 or Q4 and growth to resume by yr-end; company not seeing an inventory glut in the cable set-top market. 12:23 ET JDS Uniphase (JDSU) 23.30 +1.20: Hearing that company says in its H&Q presentation that the inventory correction will run its course by September. 12:35 ET United HealthCare (UNH) 64.00 -2.16: Hearing rumors on trading floors that a major brokerage firm will make negative comments on UNH at its afternoon meeting; the firm currently rates the stock a Hold; no way of confirming these types of rumors.
