My concern about Applix is a simple one: the lack of marketing effort in getting their Java Office suite into the hands of business, government and educational institutions. This could open the door wide open for them, so there must be an underlying problem they don't want to talk about. Ubiquity is the key and that's precisely what IBM has planned for eSuite. How does Applix plan on selling their product to, say, educational institutions in Australia when they can get a superior product for $49 versus $150 per seat? Why isn't the product available for purchase online? There's a problem here and they need to make some public disclosure about how they plan on positioning it going forward. IBM's eSuite makes that a more urgent requirement. Now, if you want to suggest that this is really just a collateral product designed to integrate better with their marketing and customer support products, that's just fine. I don't have any problem with that whatsoever. I would like to know what the plans are so that eSuite doesn't torpedo this stock when IBM releases it. On that note, it would also be interesting to know if APLX has plans to integrate with eSuite.
