KT Sets Plan to Convert Its Networks
to Digital

May 29, 1997 (Seoul) -- Korea Telecom said it plans to
convert all of its existing networks to digital technology in an
effort to move into more advanced, intelligent network services and
multimedia.

The company aims to make integrated services digital network service
available in every corner of the country by the year 2006. KT also
intends to expand cable subscriptions and adopt the ISO standard
system for multimedia environments.

In the first stage, from 1997 to 2001, KT will build intelligent systems
networks. From 2001 to 2006, telecom networks will be altered to
make them compatible with multimedia systems.
