They could have done that for the impreachment.

But we'd need a Constitutional Amendment.

And maybe it helps, at least this year.

I'd like whenever the Senate has a majority and a majority of one party, before an impeachment charge, there shall be a first vote in the Senate, before hearings, and if is to Acquit, don't even go to the House except to make limited floor speeches to convince the other side to change or support or oppose, and only then;
The House shall vote Yea or Nay,

And then the Senate shall vote Yea or Nay.

by a two-step process, it would shorten the waste of time we went through.

For the SCOTUS it's a lifetime appointment, so hearings may be relatively longer.
