Instead of wasting negative energy on FCC, how about thinking through the ramifications?

Now we have a big chunk of spectrum tied up indefinitely, who are the winners and losers? Would that change the wireless landscape?

Nextwave - clear loser.

VZ - interest from the deposit gone, and may not get deposit back for some time. They need spectrum in some markets???? So they may be forced to step up 1X plans to increase capacity? Not clear if they are winner or loser.

AWE - same as VZ as far as deposit is concerned. Now without new spectrum, how are they going to plan their WCDMA strategy? Since GPRS does not increase capacity, in fact quite the reverse, can AWE afford to launch GPRS in capacity constrained markets?

LWIN - same as VZ and AWE as far as deposit is concerned. Do they really need the new spectrum aside from larger foot print? Could be winner with 1X and competitive advantage with the all you can eat business model??

PCS - could be big winner since they claimed they do not need any spectrum anyway. Competition could be frozen. Now all they need is to find a few bucks for their cap ex plans.
