Either they are not following the chip rate specified in the ETSI standard or this is just B.S. propaganda to influence tommorrows decision. This would be good news for the Q if true. No interoperability problems with cdmaOne and ready in 2002.

My memory of the Ericsson/Qualcomm agreement was that industry experts believed that the closely defined chip rates (3.64/3.86) would allow dual-mode chipsets with relatively little expense. I think that there are also provisions in the W-CDMA standard for the option of GPS synchronization. This type of rhetoric seems to have dissapeared in the months following the agreement....
