AT&T Wireless just two days ago began residential GPRS services here in the Chicago area. AT&T Wireless has been marketing GPRS for business users for a short while now. (If anyone's interested, here's a link to AT&T Wireless's wireless data services information webpage: attwireless.com

The service rep's in my local AWE store claim that their GPRS service's data transmission rates exceed that of 56K dial-up internet access but are slower than broadband. The data volume charges appear to me not unreasonable. Also, they said that business users have been signing up for GPRS service at a very healthy pace.
