why post this guy? First I never heard of him before. The link was sent to me because he mentions SF. And I must admit I agree with several points he identified. It is a scathing attack on Petreaus. After reading it again and researching the author on google. I see the author is known to be an attack dog. The question to me is whether his points (or some of them) are valid. He (like all demos) failed to propose solutions. It is not difficult to tear things down, but he has a point. There are many valid opposites in this war. For example COIN and FID are opposite sides of the same coin. We have a war that is not going well and Petreaus is employing battlefield COIN and FID tactics that failed us in similar situations in the past. P then labels them a new strategy and tactics and Wash DC buys it. That troubles me. We need big changes in our thinking and we are not alone. Israel is still studying what went wrong with their last go, and what changes they should make. We should be willing to look at every critique. We need a fresh outlook and a new approach. We will never find either if we continue to focus inward.
