The Federal Reserve System hadn't been created when Thomas Jefferson was alive. I do recommend you read the book The Creature From Jekyll Island: A Second Look at the Federal Reserve by G. Edward Griffin. A very interesting read on the corruption and inherent fallibility of the Fed.
