I am not aware that the trailers were buried. I think you are confusing two or more WMD false alarms. It is understandable, the administration has tried very hard to confuse the facts.
A buried shipping container was found with microscopes, slides, and other medical equipment. It was apparently placed there to keep the equipment safe from expected bombing. The container was in no way connected with the hydrogen (and nitrogen) producing trailers.

as you can see, it wasn't even buried much, just sheltered from expected blast damage.
