globalstar...

www2.techstocks.com

This favorite thread of mine the past year has fluctuated back and forth a number of times on the issue of "When to buy". Good arguments can be made for purchase of a stock at the early perceived tornado, at the beginning of the actual tornado (which usually precedes the perceived version), when the chasm is crossed, or even before. I agree with the comments about the attractiveness of getting in early, especially since any perceived whiff of imminent success seems to send any given Tech stock into Orbit.

With that in mind, I would like to observe Globalstar. Globalstar is the only successfully operating wireless satellite service in play. Globalstar successfully launched about 48 satellites in to low earth orbit, and is now out selling handsets (thru service providers) and service. It has a lot going for it; it is wireless, it is a Gilder fave, it operates in a new wireless frontier, and without competition at present.

And since we discussed this company last year on a couple of occasions, reviewing its prospects, it is currently selling off, down to about $16 1/4, about where it was last Spring.

There's been a lot of talk recently concerning getting in earlier and earlier in the Technology Adoption Life Cycle, and about companies that haven't yet crossed the chasm. We've seen lots of success here of late.

Globalstar is a reminder that getting in early can be painful for the LTB&H shareholder. (Although it looks like a good trading stock; but I'm not a trader. <G>)
