Well, I was one of the lucky ones, I didn't lose power during the entire weather event, at the same time, much of Florida lost all power. I did have some landscaping problems. But all things considered, it was nothing.
These hurricanes can really wear on you. As you get warnings of disaster in your area, You look around and see how nice your environment might be and then think about how it could all be gone in a few hours. Yes, you have insurance but with all of the damage, is the fact that with so many also needing repairs, you just need to get in line and hope, knowing it could be weeks or months before you can find someone to handle your problems.
I lived in Japan for decades where they have all natural disasters all of the time, but never felt as hopeless as I did recently. Not really sure why, other than I am older now and harder to handle major disruption in your life at this point.
Every day just time some time to look around and appreciate how good you have it, even when, times seem hard. You can be sure, most of the people in the world have it much worse.
  Life is Good!
