I believe they consider increasing fab space at 36, moving bump and test out, and switching fab 30 to 300 to be the three prongs.

I think I remember some statements being made that FAB-30 was over spec'd in some regards. That may have been with 90nm in mind tho. We do know of course that the clean room was expanded, did they have 65nm in mind at that time?

With the cost of FAB's increasing at a rapid rate it may be an advantage to over design the brick and mortar portion of the FAB with the future conversions in mind, this may only be workable for a generation or two? For example, a bit oversized, extra ceiling hight with the carriers mounted so they could be raised or lowerd as required. No FAB guy hear, just a thought!

There is a disconnect between the depreciation times of semi equipment and Real Property. Semi-5 years and Real Property over a much longer time span, food for thought.

Regards

Jules
