I appreciate all the reading material tonight Mike.
The scamsters work in all corners of the market. I've paid my dues, and am still amazed at how these guys find new entrees onto the scene to ply their illicit trade. When one speaks of risk, we like to think in terms of the normal risks of business endeavours. There's plenty of that naturally inherent to investing. But, I've come to believe that much of the risk we suffer thru is needless and unnecessary. The SEC and other law enforcement agencies just can not function effectively enough to stay ahead of these criminal minded people. And often (as we have seen here from time to time) they thread on the edge believing brazenly, that nothing can stop them given the ubiquitous nature of the internet. It seems they will have to adopt new and safer techniques in that regard now.
Of course, your point is well taken in citing these articles. That point is easy to see between the lines- and I would assume we all agree that the systems ATG have created fit well into beginning the ultimate remedy to the awful and often, criminal enterprises that pass themselves off as part of the public securities marketplace. ATG worked closely with the SEC in creating secure and efficient procedures to fit the needs of these new ats systems. The launch of vwap trading for II's under astn, launches a new day for all investing in the public markets. All of us should eagerly await the day that we can invest in this manner as well. The phoney middlemen and scamsters are going to be addressed, at long last.
I frankly had my doubts that Fred R. really could overcome the obstacles presented by all the "frontrunning" participants and their cronies on the street. Like many of us, I've shook my head thinking nothing will ever change, and there's no hope for us "little guys". But, I'm changing my mind now. ASTN will launch this month, and all eyes will be watching the ushering in of a new day for us all. It's great to be a part of this bigger picture. I liked the story and goal last year when I started accumulating. Now, that it is coming to pass, I think we are all going to be winners- in more ways than we fully understand today.
