Here, if a sheriff shoves papers under your door, you're considered served.

They all tend to muscle you around because they know they can get away with it. Let's take an example. Two cops come to your door to question you, and tell you they want you to come down to the station. You tell them if they want that, get a warrent. They then say they want to come into your home and talk to you. You refuse.

At this point I would bet most of the cops would take you into custody, even though they had no right to do so.
