We may not be even close to the level of sacrifice that will turn most people strongly against the war.

!,000 admitted dead (even if the real number is closer to 2000 as I suspect) still is a far cry from the 55,000 admitted dead during the Vietnam War. And the American public has so far been shielded from any financial penalty because of huge purchases of treasury securities by Asian central banks.

Not until the American public begins to experience REAL PAIN either in blood or treasure or both will opinion swing decisively against military adventurism IMHO. And that can happen under either Bush or Kerry.
