The press release excerpted below may of interest. Hamilton Standard's International Fuel Cells is working with Ford under government contract. That project is one of several under a Big Three
collaborative effort supported by the Feds.
There are a number issues: 1)transitioning research to a real product; 2)structuring the arrangement between Hamilton and UT Automotive -- not easy in a company with the culture of UTC; and 3)getting the Big Three to offer the technology. (My guess is that somebody like Toyota, Honda, or Nissan does it first.)

"A partnership among the Department of Energy, Ford Motor Company and International Fuel Cells (IFC) is responsible for this accomplishment in automotive fuel cell technology. It is the
culmination of three years of development effort -- under a $13.8 million cost-shared contract -- directed at advancing state -of-the-art, fuel-cell technology.
This first-of-a-kind system is based on technology developed by IFC over the last 10 years. IFC's advanced technology enables operation at ambient pressure giving the system cost, weight, and reliability characteristics superior to pressurized systems. The automotive power plant, developed under this program by IFC, incorporated
ambient pressure technology, was acceptance tested in South Windsor, Conn., and met all operating goals. The system weights 300 pounds and
takes up approximately nine cubic feet of space. It can fit easily under the hood of a car. The system is currently at the Ford
Research Laboratory in Dearborn, Michigan and will undergo dynamic testing to measure performance under a simulated typical driving cycle. The technology is clean and efficient, with absolutely no emissions, except for water. this could lead to vehicles that get up to three times the mileage of a conventional car.

If you can't stand to hear any possible risk to the Ballard's stock price, you probably shouldn't be in a stock as risky as this one.
Don't kid yourself. BALLard is great, but they have ONLY ONE product in a niche market. If that product stumbles for any reason, you will learn an important lesson in investment risk.
