The choice was the Sandinistas or the right wingers in power before them.

That choice was communists and non-Communist, but that is not the choice before Kerry.

Given that choice, I'd pick the Sandinistas.

I am somewhat surprised that you would pick Communists, but maybe I should not be.

The real choice was Communist and insurgency, supported by the US government, that demanded free elections. When after and despite Kerry's sabotage, free elections were eventually held, the Sandinista Communists were promptly voted out of office.

I frankly recognize that there were many on the left who did not believe in fighting and winning the Cold war, and there are many today who do not believe in fighting the war against terrorism.

Kerry's heart is with this group of people in my opinion, and the implication of this is that he is unfit to be the next president of the US. Democrats made a bad choice in picking Kerry.
