One nearly went in that would've been 10 miles from my house and I fully intended to be a founding member, even though financially it's a losing proposition. But a real road course 10 miles away that I could go play on just about anytime? Hard to imagine an amount that's not worth to me!

Unfortunately, the people who did the presentation did a horrible job of it. Had I known about the presentation in advance I would've attended and helped shore things up. For one thing, when the subject of noise was brought up, it wasn't mentioned that it'd be on the other side of a highway where no residences are and that the trucks on the highway make more noise than the cars on the track would've, from the perspective of any home in the town. And apparently there was no mention of the fact that when people go to tracks, they bring money and exchange it for goods and services locally.

The local yokels thought it would be a noisy, chaotic thing populated with the 4-wheeled equivalent of Hell's Angels, and the presenters didn't adequately address those concerns.

I was frustrated that they didn't even contact me to let me know about it since I'm not only known in the local car-club communities, but pretty well-known in that locale, as well. The greater metropolitan Boogerville area isn't exactly rife with dotcoms.
