Comments: Justice Department tried to help McKay get judgeship
Funny how McKay is complaining about being terminated as US Attorney for political reasons, but he used political insiders to try and help him get reconsidered for a Federal judgeship.

That is an excellent question the judicial review committee asked the candidates: "If as a judge you were confronted with a case where you believed that the right result based on policy or fairness indicated one outcome but the legal precedent pointed in a different direction, what would you do and why?"
All judicial candidates (including incumbent state court candidates) should be asked that. Legal precedent should determine the outcome of cases. That is a fundamental precept of our judicial system. Politically popular policies never should outweigh the law when a court decides a case.
Our state's Supreme Court justices have demonstrated they will ensure political ends trump legal precedent. In the 2005 Sheehan case the property owners' legal authorities and arguments were disregarded. The justices ignored the legal challenges set out in the briefings. They instead invented strawman arguments, and ascribed those to the citizens for the purpose of the opinion. That reprehensible technique allowed them to trample the rights of hundreds of thousands of citizens and sanction continuing wrongdoing.

I think trial experience is an essential qualification to be a judge. Especially for an important trial court like federal district court, which tries major cases. Less than 10 cases taken to trial in his entire career? I would say that is disqualifying.
The three candidates recommended by the bipartisan committee -- especially the two superior court judges -- have FAR MORE trial experience than John McKay. Judge Richard Jones is a fair judge, a good judge, and a very experienced judge, and will be an asset to the federal court bench.

Richard Jones is a good choice, having served meaning time as both a federal prosecutor and a judge. And, maybe his brother, Quincy (yeah, that Quincy Jones) will entertain at his swearing in ceremony.

Lets look at John Mckay in depth. He helped prosecute Washington State medical marijuana patients in conservative Counties that did not like the State Law. He prosecuted Marc Emery,a marijuana activist. while at the same time he let the State of Washington fit the bill for most of the Armed bank robbery cases, and over 80 percent of the Drug smuggling cases out of Canada. John Mckay was a neo conservative republican political hack. Now he is reading from the whine list because the Neo conservative republican water buffalo lodge passed him up for a shot at being grand poohbah. John Mckay walked the neo conservative walk and talked the neo conservative talk. He needs to take his fate like a man and put down the whine list, like the many other political hacks at the US Attorneys office dismissed over the years.
