Minerva Announces Minerva Publisher-DVD onlineinc.com
Minerva Systems, Inc. recently announced Minerva Publisher-DVD, one of the first desktop MPEG-2 compression systems designed for DVD-Video and DVD-ROM applications. Current users of Minerva Publisher can upgrade their MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 systems to Minerva Publisher-DVD while retaining all capabilities of their present systems. The Minerva Publisher-DVD produces Variable Bit Rate (VBR) MPEG video streams and stereo audio streams compliant with DVD-Video authoring systems on the market. With the Minerva Publisher-DVD, Minerva has incorporated the CLM4730Z real-time Statistical Variable Bit Rate (SVBR) encoder chipset from C-Cube MicroSystems. When performing VBT video encoding, users can set the target average bit rate, the peak bit rate, and the minimum bit rate over the source of the encoding project. The Minerva Publisher-DVD supports YUY, S-Video and composite video input, analog and digital audio input, and all DVD-Video resolutions, including the CCIR 601 digital standard for NTSC and PAL, and compressed data rates ranging from two to ten megabits per second. The Minerva Publisher-DVD is priced at $31,995. Users of MPEG-2 Minerva Publisher systems can upgrade to Minerva Publisher-DVD for $2000.
