MPEG-Cut Machine Makes Video CDs on PCs

Vitec Multimedia has just released the MPEG-Cut Machine, a turnkey Video CD solution that includes a card for real-time capture, compression, and decoding of MPEG-1 video. The card captures and compresses video from sources such as video recorders or camcorders. The card also decodes MPEG files, allowing compressed sequences to be played back in full-screen VGA format for display on any VGA screen or video monitor. The system also includes Video Clip MPEG software for refining and editing videos, and CeQuadrat VideoPack 4.0 software for formatting and recording Video CDs. The Video Clip MPEG editing software opens captured MPEG sequences, enabling users to rearrange, delete, insert, and otherwise edit the video. The MPEG-Cut Machine, which retails for $1495, runs on Windows 95, Pentium-based PCs with 16MB RAM, a 1GB hard disk, a 16-bit graphics board, and an empty PCI slot.
