GSM1X is not an overlay or a replacement. ??? Right and Wrong.

In my mind the most important factor in the adaption of GSM1x is the ability of a service providor to scale up their core network to simultaneously provide two air interfaces. Maybe, folks more attuned to these technicalities can fire up a discussion in that area. Factors to consider, could be:

1) Split Complexity - RAN identifiers
2) Volume Increases - load balancing
3) Ran (1x) to Ran (GSM) - core optimization opportunity
4) Data (1x/GPRS) - supportive or more problematic
5) Billing - another component or another system

GSM1x - A "simple" in picture backed by a "million" of words.
