Now the real question: how do we determine which of these stocks
are a buy? How do we value their venture capital investments.
Intel and Microsoft have venture capital investments which
add up to large positions in a number of companies but remain
a tiny part of their own value. I think you have to come to
an independent decision on whether to buy a company based on its
merits and then use the venture capital potential as an extra
reason to buy it. In other words, I like TMO as a company. If
so, future spin outs may be an additional reason to buy it.
