Read/write RFID technology helps to round out Intermec's product offering. What I see Intermec doing is widening the technology offerings so that they can go after customers that are looking for more integrated single-vendor solutions. My take is that Intermec (through the acquisiton of Norand) has technology and expertise for the software "back end" that cater to the needs of large customers. The acquisition of RFID is due to customer needs.
