Tandy is entering the market for DSL service through a partnership with and investment in DSL service provider NorthPoint Communications Group, in San Francisco. The deal should add to revenue next year and beyond, as RadioShack offers consumers high-speed Internet services through its stores, Roberts said. Tandy said it plans to invest up to $20 million in NorthPoint's IPO, expected May 3. In its April 19 registration filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, NorthPoint said Microsoft may invest $30 million during the IPO. Tandy said it will begin test-marketing NorthPoint DSL service in the Dallas-Fort Worth market, with expansion to an expected 28 markets by the end of the year.
