I am all for paying down the debt as soon as possible and for keeping a cap on US Government spending.

I would modify your proposal a bit though....most politicians are wealthy so hitting them where you propose may not be effective for all....how about limiting their campaign spending to 1/2 of their opponents spending in the next election?....hit 'em where it hurts and maybe they'll wisen up!
