Loch's VAMMP Prototype Funded by $1.5 Million Commitment
Jump to first matched term
AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 9, 1999--Loch Harris, Inc. (OTC BB:LOCH) agreed to terms yesterday for a $1.5 million capital commitment that will fully fund the prototype for its VAMMP (VAcuum Multi-constituent Monitor for Plasma) technology, according to Loch CFO Mark Baker.

VAMMP (VAcuum Multi-constituent Monitor for Plasma) designed by noted Tucson physicist Dr. Henry Blair, will monitor and measure plasma constituents in vacuum processing systems is real time using ultraviolet excitation. The technology could have far reaching impact on semiconductor manufacturing, said Baker.

Details of the private investment were not released, but Baker said that it would enable Loch Harris and Chemical Detection Technology, Inc. (ChemTech), owners of the VAMMP technology, to proceed with no long-term debt.

"Work on the VAMMP prototype will start tomorrow," added Rodney Boone, President of Loch Harris and Chemical Detection Technology, Inc. (ChemTech), the subsidiary that owns both the VAMMP and ELF (Eliminate Landmines Forever) technologies developed by Blair. Delivery date is estimated in nine months, he added.

Blair will present an invited paper about the technology at a SemaTech-sponsored conference in Vail, Colo. on Tuesday. "As announced in an Aug. 9 release ("Loch Harris/ChemTech's Blair To Show Proof For VAMMP At Vail Symposium"), Blair is expected to reveal proof of the technology even before the prototype is built," said Boone.

"And now," said Baker, "Blair and Boone will be looking for strategic, non-financial industry partners with the confidence that the VAMMP prototype will be built and available for testing."

Further information about ChemTech's VAMMP system may be seen at lochharris.com, the Loch Harris Web site. More about the AEC/APC Symposium may be seen at sematech.org and semi.org.
