December 9, 1999 Stackpole Ltd - Appoints David Elliott as Division Manager of Automotive Gear Division

Robert J. Lander, President and Chief Operating Officer of Stackpole Limited is pleased to announce the appointment of David C. Elliott as Division Manager of the Automotive Gear Division ("AGD") , effective January 3, 2000.

Mr. Elliott joined Stackpole in September 1999 as Director of Operations and Lean Manufacturing reporting to Mr. Lander, and since that time, David has worked with AGD management, leading the implementation of a lean manufacturing operating system. He came to us with extensive experience from DaimlerChrysler Corporation, where he held various management positions in operations, manufacturing engineering and maintenance, including Plant Manager and Director of Manufacturing of DaimlerChrysler's "lean" assembly plant in Brazil.

The appointment of Mr. Elliott is being made in conjunction with the decision of Mr. Terry M. Nickerson, Vice President of the Automotive Gear Division, to retire in January 2000. Terry initially joined Stackpole in May 1998 as Chief Financial Officer and assumed responsibility for the Automotive Gear Division in November of that year.

Rob Lander commented, "Under Terry Nickerson's leadership, AGD has returned to profitability and has a clear path forward. The Company extends its gratitude to Terry for his significant contributions. We are indeed fortunate that Terry will remain with Stackpole in an advisory capacity throughout 2000 in order to assure a smooth transition and provide us the benefit of his experience."

Stackpole Limited is one of the world's leading manufacturers of highly engineered, technologically differentiated, high volume powertrain systems and components, primarily for automotive engines and transmissions. Stackpole has more than 1,700 highly-skilled employees at five operating plants in Canada and the United Kingdom. Stackpole is a public company and its common shares are listed and traded on The Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol SKD.
