My take on the SearchFindings.com issue....
This week FWHT got coverage because they discovered a site called SearchFindings.com had taken out over 6000 keyword bids on FindWhat.com. When a user clicked one of these links, they were directed to Goto.com, which searchfindings.com was an affiliate of.

Searchfindings.com collected the difference between their keyword bid on FindWhat and what Goto paid them in affiliate fees.

FindWhat upon discovering this, shut down SearchFindings.com account.

Several people made it sound like FindWhat was over reacting to the situation, but if anything, I say this proves how committed to their business plan they really are....

If you take the short term view, then yes, FindWhat.com has lost an advertiser bidding on over 6000 keywords. FindWhat could have left them alone and collected their fees everytime a link was clicked.

However, these "clicked on" links took a person to a Goto page or keywords that did not match up with what the person was initially searching for. How many times would you utilize a service that provided less than stellar results? FindWhat may have lost some short turn revenue, most likely a minimal amount, but in the long term they strengthend the quality of their search results. This will allow FWHT to continue to build on the FindWhat brand name as a site that produces relevant results, which along with creating repeat searchers, is all that ultimately matters.
