The most egregious political lies revolve around Bush, and the idea that he is dumb or otherwise defective. He got about 1250 on the unrecentered SATs, which would have put him roughly in the top five or ten percent of college bound students. He got about a 2.8 GPA on a 4 point scale (a B minus) from Yale. He did even better for his MBA. Although he failed in the oil business, that is not unusual or evidence of lack of ability, it is very chancy. As managing partner of the his ball team, he is credited with making it so attractive that it sold at several times it original value. As governor of Texas, he was known as a fairly strong leader in a constitutionally weak post, and a state that is predominantly Democratic. In other words, he is both smart enough, and competent enough as a manager, to be president.
