John: I don't know much, but tell me more..as I have a hunch.. a hunch based on what I know about the increase in crude oil price..the refineriers are not yet passing that increase on.. but I expect them to shortly..crude is up 15% from last year I work in the oil patch and it's jumping.. I'm suprised gas has not shot up by now,,so my hunch is that truckers will have to soon pay a lot more for diesel and that may favor the rails, one expecption, congress is being pushed to reduce the taxes, so have to watch that too..but in general conditions look like they change to give the rails a boost.. I'm not exactly a train buff, but I always liked them, and I'm old enough that I can remember actully making some trips on the coal fired steamers..man what a blast..you would be so dirty after the trip the tub water turn pure black.. In the 40ts and 50ts I was draged all over the place, old man was in the service..and we rode the heck out of trains.. Last ride I had was from Charleston S.C. to Houston TX, that was about 1969, ....no damm I almost forgot , I went to Panama in 1978 and I rode that old steamer 3 times from Cristoble to Panama City..and back, man that was a real blast..you think it's going to rock off the tracks..it flys through that jungle..yep I got some old 8mm film of that trip..but any way tell me more about the RRs, and what do you think would be a good buy.. jim |
