Check out Ligand Pharmaceuticals on this board or go to
prnewswire.com and check out Ligand's company
news for a year's worth of press releases. Their most advanced
compounds that were developed in house are retinoids in phase
2/3 trials for a wide range of malignancies. They have many
programs with many partners (PFE, GLX, AGN, ABT, AHP, SBE, & Sankyo)
with more to come, but the most advanced cancer drug is Drolxifene
which is in phase 3 trials for breast cancer (LGND has discovered a
variety of anti-estrogens that will be entering additional trials,
one this year in Europe and next year in the U.S). LGND, like many
Biotechs, has pulled back from recent highs and should be an excellent
long term play. Today you can get it at 12 3/8. A couple of months
ago it was at 19 3/4.
