ReSound Corporation Announces Sale of Viennatone Retail Business

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BW HealthWire)--Dec. 15,
1998--ReSound Corporation (Nasdaq:RSND), announced today
that it has completed the sale of its Viennatone retail hearing health
care business to the Amplifon Group. The Amplifon Group is one
of the world's largest hearing instruments distribution companies.
Terms were not disclosed.

The Amplifon Group, headquartered in Milan, Italy, is a European
market leader in the retail distribution of hearing health care products
with 420 retail outlets throughout Italy, Spain, France and
Switzerland. Acquisition of the Viennatone retail business will
extend Amplifon's network into Austria with the addition of 21
Viennatone stores. As part of the transaction, the companies have
entered into a strategic partnership under which Amplifon has
agreed to market and sell ReSound and Viennatone hearing health
care products throughout its retail outlets in Europe. Amplifon is
expected to be a significant customer for ReSound in Europe.

ReSound is a hearing health care company that designs, develops,
manufactures and markets technologically advanced hearing devices
throughout the world.
