I do not believe that Activex can wipe out Java anymore than Internet Explorer can destroy the market lead of Netscape Navigator. Additionally, most of the current development is using Java and its hype is stronger than microsofts. It will be some time before Microsoft can catchup to Java.

Therefore, "CAFE" should remain strong, but if Microsoft was interested in SYMC, it is possible that they would then use CAFE as coat tail to attach themselves to Java to weaken it, or rebuild it for Activex, or like their bid for Quicken will try to get rid of Activex by selling to someone else (remember Microsoft Money) and attempt to aquire Java as well.

This is also just fantasy and not reality, unfortunately no one knows the reality of this situation. Good question though....
