GERMANTOWN, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 12, 2004--Telkonet, Inc. (Amex:TKO - News), the leader in providing in-building broadband access over existing electrical wiring, today announced a strategic alliance with ViaSat, a high-technology company that provides innovative satellite communications services. Through this alliance, Telkonet will offer ViaSat's wide array of satellite services along with Telkonet's proven high-speed Internet access system to deliver a complete broadband solution for the enterprise marketplace. ADVERTISEMENT By bundling Telkonet's high-speed Internet access system with ViaSat's satellite broadband services, customers enjoy a total solution from a single vendor, saving time and money. The system is simple, reliable and secure, and can be deployed within days.
Jorge Vespoli, ViaSat VP of worldwide sales and marketing, stated, "Telkonet's system is the perfect compliment to our satellite services and provides business-class broadband Internet within a building using existing electrical wiring, with Internet access at every outlet."
In July 2004, Telkonet hired Blair Gilbert as vice president of the satellite networks group to expedite the launch of Telkonet's satellite networking initiatives and integrate Telkonet's product offerings.
Blair Gilbert, commented, "This new alliance reinforces Telkonet's strategy to deliver high quality broadband services via satellite and to expand Telkonet's customer base and fulfill broadband Internet needs in markets where satellite technology is the only option. Research indicates that 40% of all businesses will never have access to high-speed Internet other than through satellite. Satellite services also allow for the construction and delivery of private intranets. These intranets will combine external high-speed Internet, and closed network delivery of video for advertising and teleconferencing. Voice over Internet (VoIP) by using ViaSat's proprietary technology can also be provisioned. ViaSat technology, coupled with Telkonet's technology, offers a unique solution to the enterprise sector."
Gilbert continued, "We know that approximately 90% of digital retail signage is being delivered via satellite. This is a fast-growing market that will revolutionize retail merchandising, display, marketing and point-of-purchase advertising. The Telkonet solution is a perfect adjunct to this delivery by satellite."
