Freewest: Berthiaume Syndicate Intersects 0.22 opt Gold
Over 22 ft in NW Quebec

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--The Berthiaume Mining Syndicate (formerly the
1995 Beep Mat Syndicate) confirms additional high gold values on
its showing north of Lebel-sur-Quevillon in Berthiaume Township,
Northwestern Quebec.

The fourth hole drilled on the showing intersected a wide
mineralized zone at a vertical depth of 30 meters. A 6.8-meter
section yielded 7.5 g/t Au (0.22 opt over 22 ft), including 9.8
g/t Au over 5.03 meters (0.28 opt over 16.5 ft). This hole
intersected 20 - 50 percent pyrrhotite in an amphibole iron
formation. The horizon shows an East-West strike and a 50 to 60
dip to the North. Results are as follows:

Drilling will soon resume to the east and at depth in order to
follow the mineralized horizon detected by a MaxMin geophysical
survey. The horizon remains open in all directions.

This showing was stripped during the summer following its
discovery through a Beep Mat geophysical survey during the fall of
1995. Three 10-meter spaced channel samples from the stripped
sulphide horizon yielded 9.0 g/t Au over 3 meters, 7.2 g/t Au over
2 meters and 5.7 g/t Au over 4 meters. Another trench, 800
meters to the east, was sampled and returned 8 g/t Au over 1
meter.

The Berthiaume Mining Syndicate consists of Consolidated Oasis
Resources Inc. (CSI:ME) (22.5 percent), Freewest Resources Canada
Inc. (FWR:ME and TSE) (22.5 percent), GeoNova Explorations Inc.
(GNE:ME) (22.5 percent), SOQUEM (22.5 percent) and Explorateurs-
Innovateurs de Quebec Inc. (EX-IN) ( 10 percent), the project
manager.
