Bush Newspaper Endorsements
18-Oct-2004 The Associated Press

The Spokesman-Review, Spokane, Wash., endorsed Bush on Oct. 17:
--"This newspaper recommends President Bush as a better choice to protect the country from attack, to win the peace in Iraq, and to use tax cuts to stimulate the economy to recovery."

The Connecticut Post, Bridgeport, Conn., endorsed Bush on Oct. 17:
--"President Bush, during his first term in office, has capably met the challenge of terrorism head-on, using the time-tested method that the best defense is a good offense. ... Bush's conservatism -- coupled with his strong leadership as exhibited in the war on terrorism -- will provide the proper course for America during the next four years."

The Free Lance-Star, Fredericksburg, Va., endorsed Bush on Oct. 17:
--"In a second term, Mr. Bush will, we judge, persevere in Iraq and in the larger conflict with neo-barbarism. The country's economic foundation and, more crucially, its physical security are safer if he wins a second term, and we endorse his re-election."

The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, endorsed Bush on Oct. 17:
--"George W. Bush, whose decision following Sept. 11, 2001, to take the war on terrorism beyond America's borders became the defining choice of his presidency, is the necessary choice to move Iraq toward stability and modernity....

"A critical juncture in an epochal war is no time to change a president, particularly if the option is one whose position regarding that war is elusive."
