I have been trying to follow the Mozilla effort as much as possible.
Any ideas on when a compiled version will be released?

Last I heard, a beta version is supposed to be available sometime before the end of the year, so it will probably be several months before then. In the mean time, you can get an interim compiled version from one of several sites. Go to mozilla.org, check out the "Mozilla FAQ" page,
and search for "binary" in the page. There is reference to several
sites that have binaries available for download.
