Paul do you think C is too big to fail? Can you think of any litigation or negative announcements that may provide a buying opportunity? I like this sector in general and any well diversified portfolio should contain one or more banking stocks.

One of my best investments many years ago(early 80's)was BofA at $5. This was during a period when the industry was having problems and BofA had some company specific problems management needed to resolve. They even allowed shareholders to buy stock each month at a 5% discount to the market during their 18 month restructuring.

Can you think of any reason a Kerry victory might be negative for the banking industry (possible new legislation) in the next four years? Also, do you think Spitzer is finished with his probing into this bank?

I think the market is discounting something and I am waiting for some market over reaction. Perhaps it's just due to the interest rate cycle and possible uncertainty of the election.

EKS

disclaimer - C is one of my top 5 holdings in my IRA account.
