I believe by "surpass" the Pru guy means in time, since no details of the process were revealed. That's what the laugh is about-- the notion that AMD might beat Intel to 45nm. As I've already posted, I predict AMD will not ship production 45nm parts until very late 08, more likely H109, despite any "mid-2008" claim they might make at this time. One only needs to look at claims made for 90nm and 65nm, and the inevitable delays that followed. Remember how they were going to "close the [timing] gap" with Intel with 65nm?
