Understood. Because of just this kind of potential confusion, the terms "satisfy" and "meet" tend to be preferred to "cover" when referring to margin calls. But YMMV. Sorry if I insulted you by assuming you were talking about some imagined short-seller conspiracy. I've heard that so many times I've almost come to expect it.
