To All:

Has anyone noticed that 99% of the cookie alerts say the cookie will persist until Friday, December 31, 1999? The other 1% set the termination date on the same day of the alert or at the end of the current year. The cookies set by the Interactive edition of the Wall Street Journal, for example, end on December 31, 1999.

I wonder if this means that the cookies terminating on December 31, 1999, are from concerns that have not solved the yk2 problem. Why do all the horizons go only to the end of 1999? Why not a five year horizon, or a two year? Would be interesting to know.
