But then it's not every thread that can spend an entire day trying to pin down whether Bush meant "mission accomplished" when the background sign proclaimed it. That one was funny. ;-0

It's quite clear from the best book on the planning and execution of the Iraq invasion, Cobra II, that Bush was engaged by the planning for the invasion. That was the key thing to him. Defeating Saddam. He had little or no interest in "occupation" issues. Just disappears from the pages.

I don't think there's any doubt his view of the mission was a military one. That's one of the several large, large problems with the entire invasion of Iraq.
