Science should never be politicized. Throughout history, anytime that has happened the results have been disastrous.

We can put in sensors to measure pollution particles and conduct lab experiments to see what those are doing. That should not be subject to debate.

What needs to be done about it is a matter of policy and subject to debate. So we can argue on how to address it, be it via taxation, subsidy, or development of better means. Or we can even simply accept the risks and choose not to do anything about it. Those are all valid points of debate and in a democracy there are many ways of fighting for your favored position. But the science itself should never be politicized.
