The other good thing about the buying the Canadian-listed stocks is that I am buying them with US dollars, and then selling them later in presumably appreciated Canadian dollars. So there is some degree of currency play involved as well. Maybe that will make up for the bid-ask and currency exchange, if I hold them long enough.


you actually get the currency appreciation even on the amex listed stocks. they are shares in cdn listed companies. it doesn't matter where they are listed. all other things equal, if the cdn currency appreciates and there is no change in the company fundamentals or relative valuation, the amex listing will appreciate due to the currency change
