I agree - VOD as well as videophony will be interesting additions to the bandwidth armamentarium.

But several points here:

Even though Amati is working on a VDSL solution, so are MANY others... and Amati does NOT have any standard to prop itself up by.

These apps will probably NOT be available widely for quite awhile.

These apps will significantly tax the existing backbone.

These apps will require shorter local distances, and will be more expensive to develop, standardize and deliver than even ADSL.

So I agree, there are some future "killer" apps, but they don't seem to benefit Amati in any *specific* way, and certainly not over the next few years...

All of course, IMO-
