[from DJ article on 3IC's announcement] The IBM-3Com-Cascade alliance touts networking solutions that promise five-fold performance improvement over current systems at one-tenth the cost. IBM and 3Com will support Cascade's IP switching technology. IBM already markets products made by 3Com and Cascade to its large base of corporate clients. 3Com last month credited the IBM relationship with helping it gain the No. 1 position in the market for hub devices.
