Hummingbird proxy for climate . This year the # of birds has dropped to in my opinion about 1/5 to 2/5 of what they were 2 years ago . This is from only a sample of 3 feeders . Not a large sample size .

The birds that are here are shyer , more nervous around humans . If they see you looking out at them from a house window they are gone for a day or 2 .

Later in the year we will be interest in their departure date .

Last year these birds left the north about 1 month earlier than they had been .
